Springfield Township police reports

Theft: At 3:30 p.m. a customer used his Cash App to download $500 from the register at Rite Aid on the first block of Saxer Avenue. The store supervisor told police. There have been several thefts throughout area Rite Aids using the same Cash App scam.

Theft: At 2 :21 p.m. the Target on Baltimore Pike, reported a theft in progress with the suspect fleeing the store. Officers checked the area and located Clifton Brandon, 45, Philadelphia, who matched the description provided by security. Brandon attempted to steal $1,053 of over-the-counter medications. Police report he is suspected of committing a prior theft on Aug. 22 of $1,422 of over-the-counter medications, but was not apprehended. He was in possession $732 of CVS merchandise, which had been stolen earlier in the day. Police said he had a warrant out of Montgomery County for retail theft.

Retail theft: At 1:04 p.m. the Target, Springfield Mall, reported a shoplifter in custody. A woman, 47, Drexel Hill, was observed concealing $487 of store merchandise in a reusable shopping bag. She was apprehended by security as she was leaving the store.

Theft: At 1:04 p.m., FedEx reported packages stolen from the back of a delivery truck at the Springfield Mall the prior day. The driver was making deliveries inside the mall when his truck was entered and eight boxes were stolen.

Retail theft: Macy’s reported a shoplifter in custody at 7 p.m. A 30-year-old woman from Philadelphia concealed $398 of store merchandise in her child’s stroller. She was apprehended by security as she was leaving the store. She was turned over to police and charged with retail theft. She was released with a summons for court as she had three children with her at the time of the arrest.

Possession: At 2:50 p.m. Officers responded to the Saxer Avenue SEPTA trolley stop for a suspicious person. A 30-year-old Philadelphia man was contacted and showed signs of being under the influence of narcotics. He was in possession of suspected heroin and numerous pills in zip lock baggies. He was arrested for drug possession and transported to the police station. He was later transferred to the hospital for medical treatment for a possible overdose.
